WP Engine was founded in 2010 and has grown host 500,000 'experiences' globally, representing 5% of the world's web page visits websites.

The company was started by Jason Cohen, an experienced technologist and serial entrepreneur, who develops and  refines WP Engine’s technology roadmap in his CTO role:

WP Engine host over 80,000 customers on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), allowing them to quickly scale their operations globally.

They offer three managed WordPress hosting plans and a fourth customer option for enterprise:

  • Startup – for 1 site – from USD $35 month
  • Growth – for 5 sites – from USD $115 month
  • Scale – for 15 sites – from USD $290 month
  • Custom – for large businesses and mission-critical sites.

All plans come with the Genesis framework and over 35 StudioPress themes.

Enterprise customers on custom plans have access to a security product called Global Edge Security, which was launched in November 2018 in partnership with CloudFlare.
